End of Summer

The last day of August brought a welcome relief from the wind and rain of recent days and provided opportunity for a 'decent' walk from Pitullie up by Netherton, round by Broomhills and back along the coast road.

Looking down towards Sandhaven on the right, Pitullie on the left, Grey Granite  thought that the fields on either side of the road seemed an apposite image for this day of transition between the seasons.

The gales of recent days have removed colour from the  dykesides, stripping the flower heads from this clump of naturalised montbretia and the patch of golden rod at Hillhead.

A ragged small copper, a pugnacious, restless butterfly. Are the tatters due to the recent wind or battle scars?

The track  from Broomhills to the down to the coast road
